System overview

Cutaway of a two-floor home showing a full SwitchFlo Ultra installation: two overhead tanks on the terrace with four sensors each, a sump tank with four sensors, a borewell with a submersible pump, two motors on the ground floor, and one cable from each tank running down to the controller at the switchboard.

SwitchFlo Ultra shown: two motors, two sources and two overhead tanks, with a bore pump feeding one tank and a sump pump feeding the other. Four level sensors go in each monitored tank, twelve in all here. Each motor also gets one dry-run sensor at its own source, two more on Ultra, which are not drawn above. That is how the borewell is protected in this configuration without being level-monitored. Counts for every model are in the range table above.

Controller

Motor types Single & Three Phase
Voltage protection 195–260V AC default, adjustable 150–300V in the app
Operating temperature 0–55°C
Mounting Wall-mount, enclosed unit

Connectivity

WiFi standard 2.4GHz 802.11 b/g/n (cloud models)
Mobile app iOS & Android, free download
App & cloud access Included, no recurring subscription fee for normal residential use
Offline operation Motor automation and safety rules run without internet

Sensors

Level sensor type Sealed magnetic float sensor. No electrical contact meets the water, so nothing corrodes and nothing needs calibrating
Level sensor placement Immersed in the tank at the levels being read
Dry-run sensor One per motor pump, at that motor's own water source. 2 with Ultra, 1 with Sump+ and Ground+
Dry-run sensor count Additional to the level sensors, not part of the level sensor counts quoted above
Tank compatibility Plastic (HDPE, PP), concrete and steel
Calibration Not required

Package Contents

Controller unit ×1
Level sensors 4 per monitored tank (Empty / Low / High / Full). 12 with Ultra, 8 with Sump+, 4 with Ground+
Dry-run sensors One per motor pump. 2 with Ultra, 1 with Sump+ and Ground+
Sensor wire bundle Pre-fitted to every sensor. Included free for buildings up to 2 floors
SmartSwitch ×1. Schedule-controlled switch on a 7A relay at 230V AC
Mounting hardware Screws and wall anchors
Documentation Quick-start guide + warranty card

Protection

Dry-run protection Each motor has its own dry-run sensor at its source. Cuts power when that source runs empty, after a confirmation delay you set
Overflow prevention Motor stops the moment the tank reaches full level
Voltage cut-off Blocks the motor while mains sits outside 195–260V AC by default, adjustable 150–300V
Voltage cut-off limits Guards against sustained out-of-range supply. It is not a surge or lightning arrester, so fit a separate surge protector where spikes are common
Maximum run time Hard per-motor ceiling. The motor stops at its limit even if every other rule fails

Control logic

Level automation Starts on low level, stops on full, read continuously from the tank sensors
Time schedules Up to 5 start windows per motor, kept by the onboard real-time clock
Linked tanks Tanks joined by a pipe are treated as one system. With two motors (Ultra), you set which runs first, and the other starts if that one cannot
Manual override Start and stop on demand from the app or at the controller
Event history Every start, stop and the reason behind it is logged and retained
Alerts In-app and push notification

Behaviour without internet

Level automation Runs fully on the device
Dry-run and safety rules Run fully on the device
Time-of-day schedules Need WiFi to sync the clock. A permanently offline unit runs on tank levels only
App and remote control Require WiFi on cloud-connected models

Mobile application

SwitchFlo app home screen showing two overhead tanks at 25 percent, a sump at 100 percent, and start controls for both motors
Home Live level for every tank and the sump, motor status, and start or stop for each motor.
SwitchFlo app configuration screen showing motor start windows for two tanks and a SmartSwitch schedule
Configuration Start windows per motor, up to five each, plus the SmartSwitch schedule.
SwitchFlo app alerts screen listing tank full and motor on or off events with timestamps
Alerts Every start and stop with the reason recorded, kept thousands of entries deep.
Platforms iOS on the App Store and Android on Google Play. Free download
Live readings Level for every tank and the sump, motor status, and mains voltage
Remote control Start and stop each motor, and switch any motor between auto and manual
Schedules Up to 5 start windows per motor, set per tank
Alerts In-app and push notification
History Every start and stop recorded with the reason for it, thousands of entries retained
SmartSwitch On, off and scheduled from the same app
Requires A cloud-connected model and 2.4GHz WiFi at the controller

Before ordering: tank measurements

Diagram showing how to measure the inner height of an overhead tank and a sump, with the sensor rod suspended inside each tank

Sensors are cut to the tank. Measure the inner height of each monitored tank and send the figures with the order, and the sensor assemblies are made up to match.

Installation requirements

Installed by A qualified electrician, at the existing electrical panel
Pump replacement Not required. SwitchFlo works with the pump already installed
Supply types Single-phase and three-phase
Sensor mounting Sensors are lowered into the tank at the levels being read. Sealed against the water, so there is nothing to corrode and nothing to calibrate
Cable run Wire bundle included free for buildings up to 2 floors. Taller buildings are sized on request before ordering
Network 2.4GHz WiFi at the controller for cloud-connected models. 5GHz is not supported

Warranty and commercial terms

Standard warranty 1 year, replacement for manufacturing defects. Shipping charges for a replacement may apply
Extended cover +1 year for ₹2,500, or +2 years for ₹4,500, added at the time of purchase
Not covered Physical damage, incorrect installation, or mains supply outside the rated input range
