Forgetting to turn the motor off
0:33 Published
Forgetting the motor is the expensive mistake. Left on past full it overflows the tank for as long as it runs, and left on past empty it runs dry and the pump pays for it.
The controller closes both ends of that. It cuts off at full so the tank cannot overflow, and it refuses to run the motor with no water to move, which is the failure that actually destroys pumps. Both rules run on the device itself, so they hold during a power cut or with no internet in the house.
What happens in this clip
- 1 A motor left running past full, and the water that goes over the side.
- 2 The other failure: running dry with nothing to pump.
- 3 SwitchFlo cutting off at full on its own.
- 4 Dry-run protection holding even with the house offline.
